Residents of Dubai can now renew their visas in record time, thanks to the newly launched Salama platform by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). This AI-powered digital system streamlines the renewal process, cutting down waiting periods and eliminating paperwork.
The innovative platform allows users to renew their residency visas within a matter of minutes. Salama leverages artificial intelligence to recognize user details, display visa statuses of dependents, and notify residents of approaching expiry dates. The renewal request is processed instantly, and the updated visa can be downloaded directly from the system.
Enhancing Efficiency Through Technology
Previously, renewing a Dubai visa could take anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the submission of documents. With Salama, this timeframe has been drastically reduced to just one to two minutes when all required information is in place.
“The initial rollout of the system is focused on renewals and cancellations for residents,”
said Ghaleb Abdullah Mohammed Hassan Al-Majid, Director of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department at GDRFA.
“Future updates will extend the service to tourists, visitors, and additional GDRFA functionalities.”
This digital initiative aligns with Dubai’s vision of enhancing public services through artificial intelligence. Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, General Director of GDRFA Dubai, emphasized,
“Digital transformation is not just about innovation; it is about reshaping customer experiences. The ‘Salama’ platform showcases our dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve life in Dubai.”
Upcoming Enhancements and Business Integration
Currently, the platform caters primarily to individuals, but plans are underway to extend Salama to businesses. Al-Majid stated,
“We will incorporate business services into the platform in upcoming phases through smart channels and the GDRFA DXP app.”
