Here’s how you can sponsor your spouse’s visa in Dubai;
Spouse Visa Sponsorship Eligibility in Dubai
The husband may sponsor a visa for his wife if he meets the minimum wage set in place in the laws of this country. The husband must earn a minimum of AED 3000 with accommodation or AED 4000 without accommodation in Dubai. Then he can apply for a wife’s visa in Dubai. If the wife is sponsoring the husband, she must belong to one of the two categories according to the law, which has two different salary brackets. If the wife is a teacher, medical professional, or engineer she belongs to the basic category and she may sponsor a visa to her husband with a salary of 3000 with accommodation or 4000 without accommodation.
In this case, she is eligible for applying for a husband visa in Dubai. On the other hand, if her job falls in the other category the minimum salary limit goes up to 9000 and the other processes remain the same as a basic category. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFA or DNRD) will verify and cross-check these conditions before the requests are processed. Each application will be decided on a case-by-case basis. You need to provide the same documents as mentioned below as well as an attested educational certificate. If your application is accepted, your husband will receive a one-year renewable residence visa and your children will receive two-year renewable visas.
Sponsoring more than one wife
A Muslim resident may be allowed to sponsor his two wives if he meets certain terms and conditions set by the respective GDRFA. The applicant must have a bank guarantee of 5,000 AED if they have a second wife.
Documents for Processing Spouse Visa in Dubai
Apart from passport copies, photographs, income certificates, and copies of visas, there are a few other important documents that need to be sorted out. The UAE authorities must validate the marriage certificate irrespective of the place of marriage. The applicant will have to submit an authorized tenancy contract in the name of the applicant and his labor card for the sponsoring of a family visa in Dubai, UAE. The medical examination report from the authorized centers will have to be made available and submitted for the spouse and children over 15 years of age. Women who fall into the ‘other’ category planning to sponsor their husbands will also need approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFA). Mentioned below is the list of documents needed for Processing of Spouse Visa in Dubai:

- Salary certificate and attested work contracts

Process of Sponsoring Spouse Residence Visa
The candidate can begin the process by contacting any legal consultancy in Dubai like us, (Riz and Mona Consultancy) for getting all the application forms typed out. Once the forms are ready, we will submit them to relevant authorities and the GDRFA to get the approval for the visa. Medical examination will be due after this which has to be completed before the last date and the report to be submitted to finally get the Dubai residence visa. The length of the procedure will differ if the spouse is not present in the country at the time of application. If the spouse is present at the time of application, he or she will not need to go out of the country for the process anymore.
Residence Visas
After your spouse and children arrive in the UAE, you will need to take them to get a residence visa. This should be done within the first 60 days after arrival. The renewable residence visa is usually valid for three years.
You require the same documents to apply for the residence visa that you needed for the entry permit. It is always a good idea to bring extra copies with you of each document in addition to the original or certified copy. The following additional documents are required:
- a completed application form, signed by you, the sponsor
- the original passports of the sponsor and family member(s) as well as copies
- three passport-sized photos for each family member
- entry permit(s)
- a medical fitness certificate for each family member above 15 years of age
- proof of health insurance for your spouse and children
- your residence visa (original and copy)
- your Emirates ID card and labor card (original and copy)
Validity and Renewal
The duration of residence visa depends on the type of sponsor and the person sponsored. It is issued for one, or two or three years. Visa is renewed subject to conditions like those of fresh visas. The family’s residence permits are linked to the residence permit of the sponsoring expatriate employee. If the sponsoring family member’s visa is canceled, it requires the cancellation of the visas of the dependents.
Dependents are granted a 30-day grace period from the date of expiry or cancellation of their visa to obtain a new residence permit. If the employee fails to renew or cancel the visa of his dependents, the dependents would be deemed illegal residents and could be liable to pay a fine.
