The United Arab Emirates (UAE) made significant changes to its rules and regulations in order to keep up with the economic trend change globally. In order to constantly evolve, UAE has kept with the changes in demand and moulded its ways accordingly; this has benefited the country hugely as UAE is not only one of the best business hubs across the globe but also is regarded as a great tourist spot.
Keeping up with the changing trend, UAE recently announced that Emirati nationality will be officially attainable for foreigners, which is a major first for the Gulf’s state. This move was taken because UAE’s economy has now shifted from just being an oil-rich state alone and relies on expatriates, for whom residency is typically contingent on their employment visas.
These changes were announced by the UAE government news agency WAM, which read:
“The United Arab Emirates has approved amendments … allowing investors, professionals, special talents and their families to acquire the Emirati nationality and passport under certain conditions.”
It further stated: “The step aims at appreciating the talents and competencies present in the UAE and attracting more bright minds to the Emirati community in a way that contributes to the development and prosperity of the country.”
It was reassured that foreigners cannot apply for citizenship, however; they must be nominated by UAE royals or officials, and the country’s Cabinet would get the final say.
Vice-President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stated that the law has been amended to “aim to attract talents that contribute to their development journey”.
The UAE passport, which is ranked as one of the best in the world for mobility, will be offered to select foreigners and professionals including “investors, doctors, specialists, inventors, scientists, talents, intellectuals, artists, and their families,” according to the announcement.
While many specific details of the new policy are yet to be seen, this is a big deal for the UAE’s future, says Taufiq Rahim, a Dubai-based senior fellow in the international security program at the New America think tank.
“The pathway to citizenship for expatriates while limited in scope and unclear in details today is a transformative development for the future,” Rahim said. “The announcement broke the barrier on an issue that was previously taboo and in the long-term will spur greater investment in the UAE.”
He added, “In the short-term, however, it is more a feel-good story than a driver of economic returns.”

Registering Assets without Restrictions
Typically, whenever a foreigner moves to a new country, they face a number of challenges when it comes to registering assets but not in UAE. They have the absolute freedom to live their lives as they please and register whatever assets they want to their names without having anyone pestering them about it.
Bank Account Opening & Companies Registration in UAE

After running an adequate background check, you will be allowed to open a bank account in the UAE because you are now a UAE citizen.
