The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has broadened its visa waiver programme for Indian passport holders, making travel easier for families and business visitors. Effective February 13, 2025, Indian nationals holding valid residence permits, visas, or green cards from six additional countries—Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea—can now obtain a visa-on-arrival in the UAE.
The move, announced by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), builds upon an existing policy that previously granted visa-on-arrival privileges to Indian passport holders with permits from the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union countries. This expansion aims to further enhance travel convenience and strengthen economic, cultural, and business ties between the UAE and India.
Under the new regulations, eligible Indian nationals can enter the UAE without the need for prior visa applications. Upon arrival at designated entry points such as Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central, they will be issued a visa-on-arrival after fulfilling basic entry requirements, including a passport validity of at least six months and payment of applicable fees.
Visa Fees and Duration:
- 14-day visa: AED 100
- 14-day extension: AED 250
- 60-day visa: AED 250
Boost to Tourism and Business Travel
This initiative is expected to drive tourism and investment by encouraging more visitors from India, a key partner and one of the largest expatriate communities in the UAE. Business professionals and entrepreneurs will also benefit from easier access, further cementing the UAE’s position as a global hub for commerce and financial activities.
Industry experts view this policy as a step towards strengthening bilateral relations and facilitating mobility for skilled professionals, families, and investors. The UAE’s continued efforts to simplify visa policies align with its broader vision to attract talent and tourism while fostering international cooperation.
Enhanced Global Connectivity
By easing travel restrictions for Indian nationals with valid permits from additional countries, the UAE aims to enhance its global connectivity. This policy not only benefits visitors but also supports families of UAE residents by making short-term visits more accessible.
For Indian nationals who do not qualify under this programme, alternative visit visa options remain available, ensuring flexible entry pathways for travelers.
As the UAE continues to evolve its immigration policies, this latest visa waiver expansion underscores the country’s commitment to strengthening international ties and promoting a welcoming business and tourism environment.
