UAE is the most advanced country not only in the Middle East but also in the entire Arab world. The country has opened its doors for visitors around the world by providing exceptional business opportunities which also opened the door for world class foreign education institutes like New York University and Sorbonne. These foreign institutes have the standard and admission requirement similar to their native countries. Admissions in these institutes are opened in January, May, July, August, September and November. These international universities in UAE also offer few scholarships for international students.
There are large numbers of expatriates living in UAE and the government provides relatively economical education for their children in world class institutes. The education is provided in the curricula of American, French, British, German, Pakistani, Indian, Russian and others. Like other sectors, the UAE govt. is also providing incentives to the education sector due to which many foreign students are now entering UAE in place of western countries because UAE provides same type of education in very low cost while the students are provided with opportunities to also attain a job in UAE in several developed sectors like real estate, science & technology, media, IT, aviation etc.
In order to make matters even easier for these students, the UAE govt. has also allowed them opportunities to work part time during their studies. But there are few conditions to qualify for student visa in UAE.
Qualification for Student Visa:
For expatriates, unmarried daughters and sons not more than 18 years of age can be sponsored by their parents. But if a student wants to take education in UAE without having any relative in UAE then he/she can do so by applying through a higher education institute. These universities/higher institutes can take the role of sponsors for these students. This student visa has to be renewed every year. The students should be careful not to leave UAE for consecutive six months. In this case, they will lose their student visa unless strong reasons and verified certificates are provided.
Work While Studying:
Previously, foreign students in UAE were not allowed to work full time or part time and the only work opportunity they had was working in an internship program after taking permission from their university. But the rules have now been relaxed by the government. The Ministry of Human Resources has announced a ruling that both local and foreign students can work part time during their studies. This decree is not only helpful for students to attain practical experience and also to fund their educational and residential expenses. But it is also providing opportunity for the companies to recruit fresh talent from universities.
The ministry has laid few rules for this working opportunity for students. These students will not work more than four consecutive hours while their total working time is 6 hours with at least one hour of rest to pray and eat.
The students over 18 years of age can take work permit along with residential permit. The cost of residential permit is AED 2,500 and the fee for work permit is AED 500.
Further Opportunities:
The working opportunities for students in UAE don’t end after completion of their graduation. Female graduates can be sponsored by their parents or spouses after their studies while women without any sponsor or job and expat men are provided by time period of 30 grace days. During this period, these graduate men and women have chance to find an appropriate job in UAE according to their study areas. In case of getting a job, these students can apply for a permanent work visa. You can only work full time with employer sponsored visas.
